Session 13: Three Agreements!
We were happy to see so many familiar and new faces in attendance at today’s session! We had a record number of attendees during an intense week. The more the College sees our strength in numbers, the more they’re reminded of the power of our unit and that they’re bargaining with all of us. The momentum we’re building together - at bargaining, community lunches, and events like the teach-in - helped create one of the most positive, productive sessions we’ve had so far.
At today’s session, the College came with four counterproposals: Course Assignments, Employment Records, Holidays, and Wintersession & Summer Session. We were pleased to reach agreement on three articles: Holidays, Employment Records, and Wintersession & Summer Session.
We are excited to highlight the following wins:
A simple and transparent application process for Wintersession and Summer Session
Our employment records will be available electronically and will be unredacted going forward
For the first time, faculty teaching Wintersession will have MLK day as a holiday
These wins reflect our commitment to transparency, workload protections, and equity.
We presented three counterproposals at this session: Workload, Appointments & Reappointments, and a response on the Memorandum of Understanding on Artificial Intelligence. We continue to highlight the issues that we hear matter to you: asserting our eligibility to participate in working groups, job security, and a four-course workload. As always, you can find our proposals on our bargaining tracker.
With eight “tentative agreements,” we’re making steady progress in bargaining and our negotiations are focusing on high priority issues for our members. It's critical to keep showing our strength in numbers. We have three bargaining sessions left this semester – please save the date and help us finish the semester strong!
