Session #17: Our first session of 2025
We just finished our first bargaining session of the new year! Since we passed all of our economic proposals in the last couple of sessions, we did not come into the session with new proposals or counters. The College came with 5 counterproposals, and as always, you can find the proposals on our tracker. During caucus, our bargaining committee worked on and returned four counterproposals and one new article on communications to students, and we “tentatively agreed” to Work-Life Programs.
Despite our productivity, the College’s counterproposals avoid committing to specific language—such as memorializing free parking—to maintain their flexibility to make changes in the future. We unionized in order to make changes we want to see and to preserve aspects of the job we like, and we are committed to fighting for a strong contract.
It’s been almost a year since we won our union with a 92% yes vote. Since then, we’ve had 17 bargaining sessions and we’ve tentatively agreed to 11 proposals. We are on our way to winning the contract we deserve, but we need your continued support to achieve it.
We’re pleased that the College signaled their plan to respond to our economic proposals in our upcoming bargaining sessions. Make sure to keep an eye out for our RSVP to bargaining and help us demonstrate our collective strength in our upcoming sessions.
